Google Labs x Shankar Mahadevan

We had the incredible opportunity to collaborate with Grammy-winning Shankar Mahadevan, whose deeply improvisational approach made him an ideal partner to explore how generative AI can enrich established creative workflows. Invited into his private home and personal studio in Navi Mumbai, the intimacy of the space allowed us to work naturally and fluidly together—even while experimenting with new AI-driven tools.

Using Music AI Sandbox, a suite of experimental generative AI tools designed to empower songwriters and musicians, Shankar and our team created a new track over several days. This collaboration not only highlights Shankar’s unique perspective on Indian classical and contemporary music but also demonstrates how AI tools can unlock fresh creative possibilities for artists of any background.
